Hi! My name is Maggie Haseman. I graduated from Colorado State University (Go Rams!) in Fort Collins, Colorado in December 2013. I currently live in Portland, OR where I am still exploring the city and learning about moisture in the air. I work at Columbia Springs in Vancouver, WA as an Environmental Educator. I love working with the elementary students and getting them excited about nature. I feel like I am training the next generation of green crusaders.

I love being outside: hiking, backpacking, picnicking, swimming, snowshoeing, tubing, lazing, reading, etc. After living in Colorado for 23 years, how could I not? I am so excited to explore the wild places in my new state.

I enjoy the company of plants. In my free time, I study the scientific name (family, genus and specific epithet), growth habit (perennial or annual), and status (native or introduced) of over 200 North American Wildland Plants. I also tend to my house plants and patio garden.

I also keep active through practicing yoga and exercising (strength and cardio, especially running and weights). I love to bake and cook new recipes (and make up my own). I have a lot of thoughts (a LOT) about a lot of things (all kinds) and I like to write about them.

I like to think of myself as a "green" crusader. In a world full of plastic gizmos, petroleum what's-its and cheap useless crap (pardon my French), I believe in a simpler way of living that is not only sustainable for our planet but is sustainable for our bodies. After all, when you get right down to it, these are the only places we have in which to live, and without life... what else matters?
